Composting Galore
Heritage Organic Box Member, Ann Marie Roy, saves items (organic veggie scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, etc.) to put in the compost piles at the farm.
If you don't use your compostable items - please bring them to us! Please - no fruit, oil or meat. Thanks!
Every little bit helps!
Have a healthy, happy week!!

New pickup locations
We are now harvesting collards, red mustard, spinach and lettuce along with other delicious treats. The English peas are in bloom and we should be harvesting them in about 2 weeks.
Our "tractor man" is busy at work to get the fields ready for new planting.
Also, at the request of Sun City (Bluffton, SC) residence, we have a new pickup location at Books N' Brew coffee shop in Sun City. Boxes are also being delivered to Circle of Health in Bluffton, SC.
We have added a pickup in Hinesville as well at Farmer's Natural Foods. You can check our website for pickup times and prices.
We have an intern that will be working with us through the summer. His name is Trey and his family is starting an organic farm locally. He is wanting to learn more about organic growing and we are so thankful to have him as part of our team!
Hope you all have a great week!

Spring is here!
Lots and lots of planting is what Spring means to Heritage Organic Farm!
Certified organic plants are here and ready to be put in the ground.
Volunteers in the field are now planting broccoli, kale, cabbage and tomatoes.
Grady, Shirley's great grandson, came out to lend a hand during spring break. He is spraying fish emulsion on the parsley plants and hoeing the deer tongue lettuce garden.
Grady and his brother Davis also enjoyed feeding the goats a little grass and watching the baby calf nurse its mother.
The green onions are growing by leaps and bounds and we are harvesting them now. The brussel sprouts are looking gorgeous as well!

2012 Update!
There are lots of exciting things going on at Heritage Organic Farm right now! We are harvesting, planting, and irrigating new acreage!
These are the green onions we planted.
Here is a picture of our "girls" too. You can see the handsome rooster, "Judge," standing guard behind them. The difficult part about free range hens is that hawks love them. One swooped down just this week and got one of the chickens in a split second. This is the third one we've lost since September. We are hoping the hawks will stay away!
We hope all of you are doing well and again we sure are grateful to you, our loyal customers!
